If you have been thinking of obtaining your CFP® certification but have been putting it off, Fairfield University is pleased to annouce a flexible program that will allow you to be eligible to sit for the two-day CFP® Certification Examination in either 12 months or our traditional two-year or less program.

Our program is designed for the working individual who wants to earn their CFP® designation in a timely manner. We understand the complexities of working, raising a family, and being enrolled in a university program. That is why our courses are designed for you to choose between accelerating through the program or taking it course by course at your own pace.

Each course meets one night a week for 10 weeks from 6-9 p.m.

Mastering Your Financial Calculator Seminar

Saturday, January 9 and January 16, 2010
9 a.m. to noon
$50

The purpose of this course is to teach the Time Value of Money (TVM) concepts using the HP12c calculator.

  • Students will work on solving typical short TVM problems and Case Studies in reference to the CFP® exam.
  • By the end of the seminar, students will have a working knowledge of TMV concepts and a facility to use the HP12c calculator to solve typical types of TVM problems on the CFP® exam.
  • This seminar will provide essential skills that will be used and required in all CFP® courses.
  • Required Materials: HP12c Financial Calculator.

Fairfield's program for financial planners has been established to meet the need for professionals appropriately trained to assist clients in planning for present and future financial security. The program is designed for people working in the areas of financial planning, insurance, banking, investments, accounting, and law as well as other professionals interested in learning more about the financial planning process.

The curriculum is designed to meet and exceed the criteria set by the Certified Financial Planners Board of Standards, Inc. The CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® certification is the best-known certification in the financial planning community. The Fairfield University program has been registered with the Certified Financial Planners Board of Standards, Inc. as acceptable education for the CFP® Certification Examination. Students who complete the six courses may sit for the two-day CFP® Certification Examination.

Fairfield University awards a Certificate in Financial Planning upon completion of the 6 required courses in the financial planning program. Students must earn a letter grade of "C" or better in each course to sit for the CFP® Certification Examination and to receive the Fairfield University Certificate in Financial Planning.
