Phi Beta Kappa Internship Opportunity
The national office of Phi Beta Kappa is pleased to announce that they are looking for new interns for the writing internship program for students at colleges and universities that shelter Phi Beta Kappa chapters. This program has been in effect for several semesters and it has thus far been very successful! You can learn more about it here http://www.keyreporter.org/PbkNews/PbkNews/Details/7.html. They are seeking qualified juniors and seniors to serve as writing interns. Students accepted to the program will prepare a series of brief articles for publication on Phi Beta Kappa’s national website for news and alumni relations. Students must be attending the school for the 2013-14 academic year (they will not accept students graduating this Spring). Interested students must be recommended by the Fairfield PBK chapter, but do not need to be Phi Beta Kappa members, nor does ar recommendation imply that they will be invited to join. The intern positions will be unpaid, but students will gain valuable experience working as writers for a nationally recognized institution located in Washington, D.C., and publication of their work by Phi Beta Kappa.
They are seeking students with the following characteristics/abilities: · Major in the liberal arts or sciences · Possess strong writing and editing skills, ability to meet deadlines · Cover diverse topics and report on events of interest to Phi Beta Kappa and its members · Conduct independent research, including interviews · Make a two-semester commitment to the program and produce six stories (500-700 words each) The deadline to apply for this internship (beginning in August) is May 1st. All interested students should send a brief (250 word) reflective essay detailing why the would be a good fit for this opportunity. Those nominated by the chapter will be contacted once we complete our internal review.
