Hometown: Lenox, MA
Class: 2011
Major: Computer Engineering Major with Math and Physics Minor

I chose Fairfield because... I was originally unsure as to whether I wanted an engineering or business degree. I chose Fairfield because I liked the strong core background it gives students, the small class sizes (no huge lecture classes as at some engineering schools), and all classes are taught by professors.

I chose my major because... I love a challenge and enjoy the ever-changing new technological challenges that are associated with my major.

My favorite thing to do on campus is... Enjoying the outdoors - from sledding and building snowmen in the winter, to Frisbee and pick-up soccer games in spring and fall. I love the beautiful campus.

What's your most memorable academic experience? Taking a class on Dante in Florence during a spring intersession course.

Outside of the classroom, my favorite thing at Fairfield that really enhances my experience here is... Being part of as many clubs and groups as possible. From the Engineering Student Society and Ballroom Dance Club to Intramural Soccer and the Alpine Ski and Snowboard Racing Club, I try to keep myself as active and busy as possible.

When I have free time, I like to... Explore the town of Fairfield, hike and bike ride in the state national forests and take walks along the beach.

One thing I wish I knew about actual college life before I got here is... The amount of sleep you will lose on a routine basis due to midterms, finals, and general class assignments.

One positive thing I have learned about myself since coming to Fairfield is...Through the challenges I've encountered in and outside of the classroom, I have learned that if I set my mind to something and work hard, I can accomplish anything. I am a strong leader and I enjoy mentoring my fellow peers.

After graduation, I plan to... Get a job in the field of computer or systems engineering, and work towards obtaining a master's degree. I have already received a job offer from General Dynamics in Pittsfield where I was a systems engineer intern this past summer, working on the Navy LCS naval vessel.

The one Fairfield experience I will always remember will be... Being a member of the first Men's Alpine Ski Team from Fairfield to be invited to the USCSA National Competition. For non-skiers, this can be described as the skiing equivalent of the NCAA "sweet sixteen" of Div. 2 U.S. College Alpine Ski Racing.
