Post-Graduate Service at Fairfield University

Have you ever thought about doing service after graduation?

If you're like most Fairfield University students, you've spent some time engaged in service with either the local, domestic or international communities. Maybe you've thought about volunteering after graduation while engaged in one of those service experiences, or maybe you have a cousin, sibling or friend that's joined the Peace Corps or the Jesuit Volunteer Corps?

If the idea of doing service after graduation has crossed your mind before, or if it interests you now, you might be interested to know that Fairfield University has a proud tradition of students serving in many different volunteer agencies after graduation, both in the United States, and throughout the world.

Is it really for me? Understandably, post-graduate service isn't for everyone. But just because you have student loans or would like to get a job someday, doesn't mean that engaging in post-graduate service isn't an option for you. There are many ways in which you can serve after graduation, some of which may even help you pay your student loans, or help you get that job you want!

So, if you're motivated by a desire to help others, to learn more about yourself and the world in which you live, and make a difference the in world, post-graduate service might be for you. We encourage you to spend some time on this website and take advantage of the resources and links listed here. Please check back frequently for new information, and for updates to our upcoming events section. We look forward to talking with you and seeing you at our events!

Everybody can be great. Because anybody can serve.
You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve...
You don't have to know the second theory of thermodynamics in physics to serve.
You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.

-Martin Luther King, Jr.

Post-Graduate Service Resources

Connections Directory

  • A directory of more than 100 volunteer programs, which need volunteers to work in education, community outreach, campus ministry, advocacy, construction, medicine, homeless ministry, ministry to the elderly, the sick and the poor.
  • These are mostly faith-based programs. (While the majority of them are Catholic in regards to how they were founded, they do not inappropriately proselytize, and students who are non-religious often have positive experiences serving with them.)

Response Directory

  • Over 9,000 volunteer opportunities with over 230 Christian Member Programs.

VolunteerInternational.org

  • Includes many short- and long-term volunteer opportunities, including quite a few that are not found on other databases (some of these require that participants pay a fee up front).
