Fairfield University event for entrepreneurs and inventors to offer pragmatic steps for understanding corporate licensing

The process of licensing an invention can be rife with potential landmines.
On Tuesday, February 28 at 7 p.m., Fairfield University's School of Engineering and the Inventors Association of Connecticut will present a free, public lecture detailing the dos and don'ts of licensing to corporations.
Taking place in the Dolan School of Business Dining Room, the event will feature Bob Oros, president of the Wilton, Connecticut-based Business Development Resources, whose clients have included Domino's Pizza and Pom Wonderful Pomegranate Juice.
"This is a 'peek under the corporate tent' event designed to help independent inventors and entrepreneurs understand the corporate licensing process and corporate psyche through a series of nine pragmatic steps," said Douglas Lyon, Ph.D., professor of computer engineering at Fairfield and president of IACT. "These include insights to the internal corporate process, who to contact and how, imperative presentation content, potential landmines, questions to anticipate, how to increase valuation, and expectations."
Oros' expertise resides within new product and new business development, innovation and licensing. He identified and commercialized several successful entries in the past, a number of which spawned entirely new categories within their respective industries. His corporate marketing career includes experience in over-the-counter products, foods and beverages, pet foods, as well as working with such companies as Vick Chemical, Ralston Purina, the Pillsbury Company, American Can and Life Savers.
