Student Organization Board of Governors

All student clubs and organizations comprise the Student Organization Board of Governors (SOBOG), which is governed by a board of governors and administered by a chairperson selected by members of student organizations.

Some members of SOBOG (e.g., Glee Club, Club Sports, Theatre Fairfield, WVOF) receive funding and a budget directly from a University office or department, while most others receive funding from a pool of funds collected through the University’s General Fee.

In addition to funding, SOBOG exists to encourage student involvement and participation in clubs and organizations; to serve as a communication mechanism between and across organizations, student leaders, and faculty/staff advisors; and to create and foster an environment of support and collaboration among organizations.

An activities fair is sponsored at the beginning of the fall and spring semester, and leadership training is offered to student leaders and faculty/staff advisors through and participation in workshops and conferences.
