Obtaining Course Pre-Approval for Study Abroad

You must obtain pre-approval for the courses you intend to take while abroad, whether you registering prior to leaving the US or on-site in your host country.

Here is the procedure:

Make a list of desired courses, including alternates, and obtain course descriptions for each. Then make an appointment with the appropriate person for your major (see below), bringing your course materials. At this meeting you will receive a Study Abroad Course Approval Form. Core and elective courses will be considered during this meeting. Courses to be applied to your major and/or minor will require a signature from department chairs.

School/College Representatives:

Once all signatures have been obtained, return the completed form to the representative of your school. Report any changes to your list of approved courses immediately to your representative.

Note: Before leaving your host country at the conclusion of your semester abroad, be sure that arrangements have been made for a transcript to be sent to Christine Bowers, Study Abroad Office, so that your courses can be transferred to your Fairfield record.
