This is a study of women in the ancient civilizations of Greek and Rome. Through the study of primary sources (both literary and artistic) the realities of women's daily lives are placed within the broader spectrum of their roles in society, specifically their participation in economic, political, cultural and religious institutions. The roles of women in classical myth will also be examined. A field trip to the Archaeological Museum of Florence forms part of the course. Prerequisites: None
