This course has as its focus contemporary Italian cinema from the 80's up to the prsent day. The following films receive the most atttention on this course: Tornatore's Cinema Paradiso, Moretti's Palombella Rossa; Beningni's La Vita è Bella. All films will be discussed with reference to plotical, social and aesthetic issues in contemporary Italy. This course may be taken instead of the required Italian Language Course
