This course is designed to develop a student's personal approach to photography. The course addresses the cultural, social, ethical, conceptual, artistic, economic and professional aspects of photography. Students will explore classical photographic techniques to better understand both the creative and technical aspects of photography and to broaden their knowledge of the psychological aspects of visual perception. Contemporary photographers will be studied though video, slide shows, book reviews and onsite visits to photography shows and other related events. The relationship of photography and other art media is also analyzed. Student work will be done in the spacious new darkroom and lab, providing students the opportunity to refine their printing and technical skills at a higher level. The course culminates with the completion of a high quality final portfolio Prerequisites & requirements: Photography 200 or equivalents. A 35 mm SLR camera is necessary for this course. *Lab Fee Required
