Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

From the snows of Kilimanjaro, the great plains of the Serengeti, and the sandy beaches of Zanzibar, Tanzania is endowed with a spectacular natural beauty. The country features a rich tapestry of peoples and cultures that stretch back hundreds of years and encompass dozens of different ethnic groups, religions, and historical traditions. The University of Dar es Salaam is the oldest public university in Tanzania, and enjoys an outstanding reputation for scholarship. The local Jesuit Community will provide critical support to students, helping them to connect service opportunities with their academic interests.

Managua, Nicaragua

Nicaragua has become a great destination for foreign visitors (1.1 million in 2008). Its beaches and rain forests are full of natural adventures. Its hospitable residents and flavorful cuisine are legendary. In Nicaragua, every conversation will be a learning experience, and every day will challenge your perceptions of the world. Located in the heart of Managua, Universidad Centroamericana (UCA), a Jesuit university, offers a wide variety of courses in the liberal arts, business, and engineering.

Florence, Italy

Learn amid treasures of art and architecture, experience the glory of the Renaissance and the flavor of Italian life in one of Europe's most beautiful cities. Fairfield University's award-winning Florence program offers a comprehensive package of academic programming, cultural events, and support services designed to ensure an outstanding semester or year in Florence. All students enroll in a three-credit Italian language course; all other courses are presented in English. Students choose from a wide variety of offerings, including humanities, business, and science. The program includes housing in shared apartments in the historic city center.

Aix-en-Provence, France

Aix-en-Provence, located in the south of France, is known for its picturesque vistas, Mediterranean climate, and sense of history. The city boasts a timeless charm yet remains modern with its many university-attending students who populate the city and add to the rich variety of people, cultures, and traditions. A university town, Aix-en-Provence has been a center of study for French students since its first university was founded there in the 15th century. More than forty thousand students live and study in the city. The Institute for American Universities' (IAU) Aix Center is located in the heart of this academic community - in the oldest part of town, next to the Institut d'Etudes Politiques and opposite the Cathédrale Saint-Sauveur.

Fairfield's program in Brisbane is a semester-long experience offered through Australian Catholic University, a highly respected public university. Through this program you are eligible to participate in a credit internship within the Brisbane business community. This opportunity provides a valuable work experience and immersion in Australian professional life.

Galway, Ireland

In Galway, Ireland's cultural capital and fastest growing city, you will find echoes of the nation's medieval past and evidence of its dynamic present. Fairfield's Ireland program offers you a semester or full year at the National University of Ireland, Galway, a distinguished 150-year-old university. The program offers study in business, engineering, humanities, nursing, and sciences. In this full-immersion experience, you'll live and learn beside Irish students, and have a host of University extracurricular activities from which to choose.

Campos, Brazil

With a rich heritage derived from the Portuguese culture and strong influences of African, Indigenous Amerindians, and other European cultures, Brazil provides a dynamic backdrop for Fairfield's semester program in Campos, in the northern part of Rio de Janeiro state. The beautiful tropical climate provides year round outdoor living and with the Brazilian Atlantic ocean beaches only thirty minutes away it is a perfect location to study and experience the Brazilian culture. Students take courses at the Universidade Estadual do Norte Fluminense (UENF), founded in 1993, and established as an innovative model formed around interdisciplinary laboratories and research centers.
