Resident Assistants

Resident Assistants (RAs) are undergraduate upperclassmen who provide assistance to residents and supervise a particular floor or wing on a daily basis. These students, chosen for their leadership, organizational, and other talents, share responsibility for monitoring the hall each night and on the weekends. RAs have many roles - friend, counselor, activity organizer, supervisor, and enforcer. Despite these multiple roles, RAs are often among the more influential people on students' lives. The RA position is one of the most prestigous and important positions students can apply for and serve in during their undergraduate experience.
Compensation for RAs includes room and board, a small stipend, and a single room (in some cases with a private bathroom). An application process occurs each year for the following year. Students studying abroad for a semeter should not be discouraged from applying to be an RA. |
