The Magis Reception

Fairfield University celebrated the generosity of its major donors at the Magis Reception in June 2007, following a meeting of the Board of Trustees in New York City. Magis - which is Latin for "more" - was a concept used by St. Ignatius of Loyola to inspire generosity of heart. As the name of this event implies, we recognize that spirit in the many benefactors who chose to use their contributions to help Fairfield's students, faculty, and community.

Half of the gift has funded an endowed professorship and Dr. Schlichting is its first faculty chair holder.
