Rape - Aggression - Defense (RAD) Training

The Department of Public Safety offers Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) training, a nationally recognized program of self defense for women, which was developed by campus law enforcement professionals.

Upcoming Classes:

April 9, 10, 16 & 17, 2008 from 6-10 p.m.

Classes will be held in the Fairfield Prep Brissette Athletics Center.

What You Will Learn

The RAD system teaches easy, effective and proven self defense tactics and is designed to provide women with the knowledge to make an educated decision about resistance.

RAD begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and avoidance, while progressing to the basics of hands on defense training. It is not a martial arts program.

The course is taught by Fairfield University Public Safety Officers who are nationally certified RAD instructors.

Materials and Costs

All participants will receive a workbook/reference manual which outlines the entire RAD system of physical defense

Each course consists of four 4-hour classes. Class sizes are limited and each participant is provided with manuals, equipment and supplies.

Classes are open to all female students, faculty and staff at no cost.
