Biography: Dr. William Weitzer, Senior Vice President

William (Billy) H. Weitzer, Ph.D., a veteran administrator with more than 20 years of experience in academia, is Fairfield University's Senior Vice President.
Dr. Weitzer serves as principal advisor and chief of staff to University President Jeffery P. von Arx, S.J. He actively promotes collaboration and integration across operating divisions, and implements the University's strategic vision.
Dr. Weitzer chairs the University's Operations Committee, serves on the University Budget Committee, and oversees and directs University-wide planning efforts.
Prior to Fairfield University, Dr. Weitzer served as Senior Associate Provost and Dean of Continuing Studies at Wesleyan University, Middletown, Conn. He began at Wesleyan in 1991 as assistant provost, and held that post until 1994 when he was promoted to associate provost. From 1996 to 2001 he served as both associate provost and registrar. Prior to Wesleyan, he was assistant vice chancellor for student affairs at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst from 1985 to 1991.
He earned a B.A. in behavioral design from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, and an M.S. in psychology and a Ph.D. in environmental psychology from UMass-Amherst.
