The Advising Process: FERPA
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA), also known as the Buckley Amendment, helps protect the privacy of students' educational records. Students have the right to:
- Inspect and review their own records
- Ask that records be amended if they are incorrect
- Restrict when, how, and to whom those records may be disclosed
Educational records include course grades.
