Whatever is happening in the country culturally and historically, one way or another finds its way into the popular media. The American Films: Decades course examines how the films of a given 10-year period consciously and unconsciously reflect the era in which they were made.

Each decade in the series has a focus indicated by the full title, so as to provide a theme the can be traced through the selected films. The course fulfills a visual and performing arts core requirement in history. Three credits.
