After working as a filmmaker in New York on documentary, shorts and feature films, Jim arrived at Fairfield and soon thereafter began to build a program in film, television and radio within the Department of Visual and Performing Arts. With joint appointments as director of the Media Center and the academic program in New Media Film, Television and Radio, he has been able to create a unique and dynamic collaboration between the Media Center and the New Media program. Jim teaches history/theory and production courses in film and television, and mentors students throughout their four years in the program. He produces and directs narrative and documentary films in collaboration with the Media Center and with his students - many of which have won national awards.

Elizabeth currently teaches Beginning Screenwriting and Filmmakers: Women Directors. She has a Ph.D. in English Language and Literature and an MFA in creative writing from the University of Michigan. Her dissertation addresses visual technology and the star image of Barbara Stanwyck. Based on her dissertation, she was selected as a Woodrow Wilson Post-doctoral Fellow at the University of Texas in Austin. She also taught at the Naval Academy in Annapolis and at California State University of Los Angeles.

Mark's thesis film, Implosion, has screened at film festivals throughout the northeast U.S., including the Rhode Island International Film Festival, the Bethel Film Festival (CT), the Algonquin Film Festival (PA), and the Long Island Gay and Lesbian Film Festival (NY). It has also been broadcast on public television WYBE's Philadelphia Stories series. His documentary shorts, Religious Identity and Bob's Circle, have also been broadcast on Philadelphia Stories, and Bob's Circle has screened at the James River Film Festival in Richmond, VA. His fiction short, Shifting Ground, was a semifinalist in the 2002 Angelus Awards. Prior to film school, Scalese was an associate producer at Frank Frost Productions in the Washington, DC area, where he helped to produce documentaries that have aired on public television stations across the country as well as on the Odyssey and Hallmark cable channels.
Adjunct Faculty

With a background in corporate communications and advertising which led to forming her own company, Karen joined Fairfield University's Media Center initially writing and directing half-hour documentary programs that aired on Connecticut Public Television. Now she works in Final Cut, Motion, Flash, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and other still and motion applications to create both web-based and television-based projects.

A film and popular culture historian for over thirty years, as well as a teacher of writing and literature, Wes has created and taught more than thirty different courses in film and television, with special expertise in film genres, heroes and antiheroes in film and literature, minority images in film, and the American popular song (popular lyrics). He teaches english and film full time at the University of New Haven, and film and television studies half time at Fairfield University. He has given lectures and video presentations on both coasts, conducted workshops for high school teachers, given five-day seminars for the Institute of Retired Professionals at Fairfield University, and twice won awards for distinguished teaching.

Prior to joining Fairfield University, Steve's academic career included the position of webmaster at Quinnipiac University and programmer/producer for several international publications through Yale University. He also is an active composer and musician with 14 documentary music scores for PBS television and 5 CDs of contemporary jazz.

A graduate of Fairfield University's New Media Minor, Bridget left Fairfield for Los Angeles, CA where she completed her M.F.A. in Television Production. While in Los Angeles she worked on a variety of films; she directed and edited for Video Builder, a production company located in Redondo Beach.

From 1982-present, Chris has been Creative Director for radio stations WEBE 108-FM and WICC 600-AM in Bridgeport, CT. From 1977-82, he was Creative Director, DJ, and Talk Show Host for WGCH in Greenwich, CT. Chris lives in Trumbull, married with two sons. Avid sports fan, reader of books of all genres, and collects music, mainly jazz and blues, the older and more vintage, the better.

Tom joined NY1 in April 2003 as an anchor/reporter for New York City's only televised sports call-in show, Sports On 1.
He has more than 30 years of experience covering sports, which includes covering championships in all major sports, as well as the Kentucky Derby and the Olympics.
Tom spent several years at Fox 5 New York where he hosted the Sunday primetime broadcast "Sports Extra" and served as weekend sports anchor for the 10 O'Clock News program.

A career in television spanning over thirty years, Brian has been involved with all aspects of TV production including producing, directing, camera operation, set design, lighting design, props, and audio. Formerly, Director of Operations for CPTV's WEDW CH 49 and Praxis Media Inc, Norwalk, CT, Merry is on staff at Fairfield University's Media Center, where he supervises the television operation, produces and directs studio and remote broadcasts and instructs graduate and undergraduate classes in the art and techniques of television.

An independent cameraman/cinematographer based in NYC, an MFA from NYU-Tisch School of the Atrs, Izzy has shot industrial, commercial, documentary, and feature films for fifteen years. His work has aired on PBS, Discovery, History Channel, HBO, BBC, and most recently on The Independent Film Channel.
