Private Lessons
Whether you wish to continue on an instrument you've been playing, learn a new one, or learn your first instrument, all students at Fairfield University are welcome to sign up for private instrument or voice lessons. Ideally located between New York City and New Haven, we are able to contract with outstanding professionals to be our studio teachers for private lessons.
There is an additional fee for lessons (music majors and minors have a slightly different arrangement, please ask!), currently $475 for 10 one-hour lessons or $400 for 10 45-minute lessons. The University considers private lessons to be an academic course and thus awards credit for them, as well: 2 credits for hour lessons and 1 credit for 45-minute lessons. Sign-ups happen during add/drop period at the beginning of each semester in the Department Coordinator's office, Canisius 3, on a first-come, first-served basis. We are almost always able to accommodate everyone's needs and schedule.
Lessons are available for violin, viola, cello, acoustic bass, flute/piccolo, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, guitar, classical guitar, electric bass, drums, beginning piano, classical piano, jazz/popular piano, harp, classical voice, and popular voice. If you are interested in another instrument, we will do our best to find an appropriate instructor.
