Performance - Orchestra

Since Fairfield is a liberal arts university and not a conservatory, the Orchestra - as with all our performing groups - is open to all students, regardless of major and without audition

The mission of the Orchestra is to provide a performing opportunity for students and community members who wish to continue playing in an ensemble, and to provide music education candidates with an ensemble in which to play and to conduct.

The orchestra rehearses one day/week, with a second, sectional rehearsal beginning about mid-semester - usually the strings. There is one concert/semester, held at the Quick Center for the Performing Arts, located on campus.

Recent repertoire includes:
Haydn Trumpet Concerto
Beethoven, Symphony #5
Bruch Violin Concerto
Suite from Pirates of the Caribbean
As part of our Leonard Bernstein Festival
Suite from West Side Story
David Amram, In memory of Chano Poza
Schubert Unfinished Symphony
