Performance - Glee Club & Chamber Singers

The members of The Fairfield University Glee Club share a deep love for music and a common desire to achieve excellence in it. The University Glee Club continues the acclaimed musical legacy of Fairfield University, and is now celebrating its 60th season of extraordinary choral performances.

This mixed chorus numbers over 100 undergraduate and graduate singers. Their voices explore a wide variety of repertoire, experiencing diverse styles of music and enriching audiences with programming that challenges and inspires. The Glee Club is the parent organization for four additional choral ensembles: the acclaimed Chamber Singers, the resident quartet, Sine Nomine Singers; the Men's Ensemble, and Sweet Harmony. Together with their conductor, these men and women have embraced the choral art and have made a serious commitment to choral excellence. They have developed a unique choral community, an esprit de corps, which has become a hallmark of their performances.

The Fairfield University Choirs, under the direction of Dr. Carole Ann Maxwell, have presented concerts in churches, schools, recital and concert halls throughout Europe, singing from Galway to Rome, from Florence to London. They have been heard in a number of prestigious concert sites, including Carnegie Hall, the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., Westminster and Southward Cathedrals in London, the Aula Paolo VI at the Vatican, the United States Military Academies at Annapolis and West Point, and Disneyworld. Throughout the years, many accolades have been extended to their performances with Connecticut Grand Opera and Orchestra, the Greater Bridgeport Symphony Orchestra and The Wallingford Symphony.

In a celebration of our 60th Anniversary, the singers will be performing in Philadelphia and Greenwich, premiering a commissioned work by renowned American Composer, Gwyneth Walker, and joining with the Greater Bridgeport Symphony in a concert performance of Tosca. The Glee Club's European Concert tour will be scheduled for March, 2008. Fairfield University is proud of the work of the Fairfield University Glee Club and views the Glee Club as a perfect representative of the University's commitment to excellence.
