Media Center News - Fall 2007
From Red to Green web site
The Green Movement at Fairfield University recently got a new web site at: http://www.fairfield.edu/greenmovement. With a flash opening and a colorful graphical look, the site was totally redesigned and built by the Media Center with help from Print Shop designer Kim Szabo over a period of several months. Links include Green Facts, Links to other Green sites, and "Caught on our Green camera" - a link that invites students to submit images that catch environmentally friendly (or unfriendly) actions on campus.
Helpful ideas are given about what anyone can do at home, to cut down automobile fuel emissions, when buying and choosing products and when planning parties or special events (including "green" holiday ideas). Also on the web site are suggestions regarding what can be recycled in student residences as well as in offices, classrooms and elsewhere.
The text, written by Meredith Guiness from the newly created Division of Marketing and Communications, is friendly also - short, conversational, and attention grabbing.
Promoting Earth-friendly living at Fairfield University, the site is part of a widespread initiative to protect and preserve our planet.
Videos being produced to market graduate schools

The (Spanish) Olive talks about Jesuit education
Using an "olive" to tell the story, the Media Center is creating an animated video to help Jesuit business schools around the country orient new faculty about the history of Jesuit education. The (Spanish) olive is being animated using After Effects to talk about St. Ignatius of Loyola, the Jesuits and Jesuit education. CJBE (Colleagues in Jesuit Business Education) approached the Media Center last spring to create something that would education and hold the attention of new faculty. After a series of treatments were pitched to the group, the "Spanish Olive" treatment was selected for its very unique and imaginative approach. The video is scheduled for completion by the end of this semester.
Interviews shot in Paris being prepared for sale
A series of interviews with top Jesuit educators from around the world were shot last year in Paris by the Media Center. The interviews have been woven into an hour-long high production value video that focuses on teaching in the tradition of St. Ignatius. A web site for the sale of the video is being set up so that it can be ordered and paid for online. For more information, contact Casey Timmeny at ext. 3255.
