The Web Communications department is comprised of several experienced communicators who coordinate the development and production of all online materials, using content management systems, market analysis, creative production and project management techniques. Interactive projects and all online media are supervised by the staff who coordinate the placement and use of interactive animations, blog and discussion materials, audio and video programming, online advertising for internal and external use, along with all other types of interactive media experiences that assist the University in its marketing and communications goals.
The Director of Web Communications is responsible for the integration of web communications and oversees the Webmaster, Interactive Designer and the Web Communications Editor.
Working as an integral part of the marketing teams, the web team's role is to collaborate with departments on design, content creation, and updating. The web team can hone content, recommend enhancements to liven web pages, provide analytics on site /page visits, suggest methods to encourage repeat traffic, aid in communicating key messages, and help departments devise a workflow to ensure timely and accurate updates. The web team will also serve as a liaison between departments and other web-related services available via the Media Center, Computing and Network Services, and other marketing services to gather data more effectively and deliver content more efficiently.
The department coordinates web policy and supervises all placement of online media, including graphics, documents, audio and video content related to the marketing and communications activities of the University. Web Communications coordinates official social media placements on YouTube, Twitter and Facebook for the University, as well as operates Fairfield LIVE, the admissions / student social media platform for Fairfield University. The department provides creative and production support for all electronic communications via e-mail using a suite of electronic marketing systems, coordinating campaigns for Alumni, Advancement, Athletics and other areas of the University.
The director supervises all department activities and leads the Web Advisory Group, an ad-hoc committee formed to discuss online and interactive marketing and policy related to the University's online activities.
The Web Communications Editor is responsible for the creation of new content and the coordination and editing of content updates for the University's web site, and serves as a resource for individual web content developers.
The Webmaster ensures that the University's web presence reflects excellence and innovation consistent with institutional standards and goals, and serves as a resource for electronic publishing.
The Interactive Designer is the gatekeeper for our online style and branding and works closely with the Printing and Graphics department to ensure compatibility and consistency in both look and feel of online graphics, advertisements and interactive materials. Image preparation, interactive development and online video preparation are just some of the services available.
Each of the staff acts as a project manager for designated areas of the University, as per the Marketing Teams and Functions assignments within the Marketing and Communications division.
