Traffic and Parking Enforcement

The Department of Public Safety reminds all those driving on campus that the speed limit is 20 mph and that pedestrians have the right of way. Public Safety Officers utilize both hand-held and vehicle mounted radar units to enforce the speed limit.

Park Legally

  • Vehicles that accumulate five tickets for parking illegally will be subject to parking modifications
  • Additional violations will result in a surcharge and the vehicle will be towed
  • All towing expenses are the responsibility of the owner
  • Payment of tickets does not remove the owner/operator from the tow list
  • Parking on neighboring streets is prohibited

Payments and Appeals

  • Parking violation fees are payable within 10 days at the Bursar's office located in McAuliffe Hall, Room 301 - checks may be made payable to Fairfield University
  • Traffic Appeal forms are available at the Public Safety office and must be submitted with the ticket within 10 days
  • The decision of the Appeal Board is final - tickets may not be re-appealed

Tickets issued for parking in areas unauthorized by permit may not be appealed
