Alumni Job Shadow Program
Do you have a potential career in mind but would like to know more about the day-to-day aspects of the job? Participating in the Alumni Job Shadow Program can give you valuable insights into a potential career path.
What is the Alumni Job Shadow Program?
The Alumni Job Shadow Program is designed to give junior and senior students at Fairfield the unique opportunity to get an inside view of a particular profession or industry that is of interest to them near their hometown during winter break. Students apply for the program in the fall semester. Alumni mentors who participate in this program help students to see firsthand how skills learned in the classroom relate to the workplace while also building a network of alumni contacts. Please be aware that we have placed students in locations as far away as California so wherever home may be for you, you are still encouraged to apply and we will do our best to find an alum from your local ara.
Alumni Job Shadow activities can include:
- Overview of a company, industry, and job
- Notification of internship opportunities
- Introduction to the alumni's colleagues
- Learning more about the alumni's personal career path
- Exploring career options and goals
When: Students shadow an alumnus/na for one or more days during the week of January 12-16, 2015 or at a time that is mutually convenient for the alum and student during winter break. Please note that some alums are only available for a half day or breakfast/ lunch meeting.
Where: Where the alumnus/na works or a mutually agreed-upon meeting place.
How to Participate: The application to participate will go live on this site on Wednesday, Oct. 1st. Part of the application will be a resume so you are encouraged to have your resume reviewed by a Career Peer Adviser during drop-in hours Tuesday-Thursday, 1:30-4:00pm.
