Career Peer Advisers, Career Planning Center

The Career Planning Peer Adviser Program is a student leadership program for sophomore, junior, and senior students interested in helping students develop career readiness skills. Peer Advisers receive extensive training from the Career Planning Center staff and use that knowledge to meet with and guide students in the Center. Students focus mainly on resume and cover letter critiques, navigating LinkedIn, and utilizing Stags4Hire. Students interested in the position should connect with Meredith Tornabene at mtornabene@fairfield.edu.

Club Sports & Intramurals, Office of Club Sports & Intramurals

The Club Sports programs strives to provide leadership and competitive athletic opportunities for students. These programs provide an excellent avenue for students to enhance their knowledge and skills in a specific sport through social, cognitive, and physical experiences. Unlike varsity teams, club teams are just that - clubs. Therefore, each team is primarily organized and managed by students. Since Sport Clubs have more specific needs than most other student organizations, the Director of Club Sports and Intramurals serves as the Sport Club Administrator. Intramural sports are an integral part of student life at Fairfield University. There are more than 25 different intramural activities, including full seasons, one day, or weekend tournaments. Separate divisions include men, women, and co-ed participation. The Intramural program is administered by student supervisors and officiated by student employees.

Cura Personalis Mentor, Office of Student Diversity Programs

Cura Personalis Mentors provide one on one mentorship for first-year students to become acclimated to life at college and build a foundation for success during their years at Fairfield University. Mentors participate in regular one-on-one and group meetings where first-year students receive valuable information and useful knowledge regarding the many available campus resources. Several topics that mentors discuss with their first-year mentees including time management, wellness, spirituality, leadership, character and personal growth, and development are covered during the year.

Fairfield @ Night (FAN), Department of Student Programs & Leadership Development

A Fairfield @ Night Team member is responsible for working with the Department of Student Programs & Leadership Development in the planning and implementation of the new Fairfield at Night initiative to provide consistent late night programming on Friday and Saturday nights. Team Members may also be asked to assist with other programming initiatives that the Department is working on such as, Lighting of the Tree, Midnight Breakfast, awards ceremonies, etc. The duties may include assisting in selection of events, calendar planning, marketing events, and working various events. Hours include weekday hours and weekend evening hours on a rotating basis. Fairfield at Night Team members should demonstrate good communication and organizational skills, be team oriented and hardworking! Team members could work an average of 10-15 hours per week depending on the programming needs.

Fairfield University Student Association (FUSA), Office of Student Involvement

As the representative association of the undergraduate student body, the Fairfield University Student Association is charged with the following roles: to represent and advocate student issues, needs, and concerns; to promote a diverse array of social, educational, and cultural programs and initiatives; to be a valuable partner in the administrative processes of the school; to aid development of student clubs and organizations; and to govern ourselves in a manner that is both respectful of individual rights and consistent with the needs of the University and the larger community. These roles are carried out through many different leadership positions within the FUSA Executive Council and the three main branches; Student Senate, Council of Student Organizations (COSO), and the Programming Board. Additionally there are many leadership development opportunities through the 80-plus club and organizations that are represented at Fairfield.

Immersion Trip Leader, Office of Campus Ministry

Immersion trips through Campus Ministry allow students to develop in the areas of leadership, belief, and knowledge of various areas around the United States and the world. Student leaders lead groups on a trip to learn about the issues being faced by that area. Past service trips include domestic places such as Joplin, Missouri; New Orleans, Louisiana; and Miami, Florida. International trips have taken place in Jamaica, Nicaragua, Ecuador, El Salvador, and Brazil. The overarching goals of these trips are to reflect on how peace and justice can help to solve issues. A trip leader helps in facilitating reflections prior to, during, and after the trip in addition to fostering growth among the group and themselves. The leadership opportunity is one of the few that allows for leadership ability to be tested outside of Fairfield in a foreign environment. By applying leadership to an area outside of Fairfield, students learn to adapt and welcome the learning that comes with each immersion trip.

Inter-Residential Housing Association (IRHA), Office of Residence Life

Inter-Residential Housing Association is a student-sponsored organization designed to improve all aspects of on-campus living. The members of this government represent all undergraduate resident students to the administration, the Jesuits, faculty, staff, and Trustees of Fairfield University. IRHA unites all the campus residence halls, townhouses, and apartments and works to promote the general welfare of residential living through the development and improvement of the physical and social environment in each community. Both the Residential Community Councils and Executive Board make up the General Assembly, the governing branch of IRHA. The General Assembly (GA) meets weekly to discuss issues related to the individual residential communities as well as items that are affecting residence life campus wide.

New Student Leader (NSL), Department of Student Programs & Leadership Development

The New Student Leader positions are exceptional leadership opportunities that offer many challenges and rewards to grow as a paraprofessional. The mission of Fairfield University's Department of Student Programs and Leadership Development and the Office of International Programs is to introduce new students to the developmental resources, unique opportunities, and engaging experiences afforded them while attending Fairfield University. Through a comprehensive and collaborative effort, we welcome students to a community of active and service-oriented leaders who are eager to assist them in the understanding and appreciation of the unique experience Fairfield University offers as a Catholic university in the Jesuit tradition.

Peer Conduct Board Members, Office of the Dean of Students

The Peer Conduct Board, made up entirely of students, is trained and supported under the auspices of the Office of the Dean of Students in hearing student conduct matters. The board provides peer-to-peer assessment in the campus conduct process and handles matters of lower severity. The Peer Conduct Board is an effective vehicle for students to engage in self-governance in the area of student conduct. Student Members of the Peer Conduct Board can come from any major/discipline (i.e., it's not just for students interested in the law!). Students known for their integrity, thoughtfulness, and ability to think fairly and objectively about a problem are sought for this excellent leadership and learning experience. Peer Mediator, Department of Student Programs & Leadership Development

With training in mediation skills, Peer Mediators commit to assisting in dispute resolution using the mediation process as well as meet with first-year students via the Stag Explorer's Program. Mediation training has benefits for your personal and professional development including obtaining skills for problem-solving, listening to understand people's needs, and reducing conflict in your life and work. You will receive 40 hours of University-verified mediation training, develop personal problem-solving, listening, and relationship skills, develop mediation and negotiation skills applicable to career opportunities, and develop skills needed in local, national, and international settings at all levels. All students are invited learn more and apply to become a Peer Mediator.

Resident Assistant (RA), Office of Residential Life

The Resident Assistant is a full-time undergraduate student who serves as a University representative and is an integral member of the Office of Residence Life team in managing the day-to-day operations of the University's residence halls. Responsibilities include developing a living and learning community, cultivating relationships with students residing in their assigned areas, implementing our Jesuit and Catholic mission and vision, conducting regular inspections of their floors/area, participating in a rotating duty schedule, and assisting in the implementation of the community development model. The position is a 9-month appointment, beginning approximately 1.5 weeks prior to the start of the academic year.

Retreat Leaders, Campus Ministry

There are opportunities to serve as a leader for various retreats including First-Year Retreats, Multi-Faith Retreats, and Kairos Retreats. In the spirit and tradition of Ignatian Spirituality, Campus Ministry offers several retreat experiences to meet a wide range of spiritual needs. Kairos, adapted to mean "God's time", is an intensive, three day, weekend experience that invites close examination of our relationships with God, ourselves, and others in a communal and reflective setting. If you have participated in a Kairos Retreat before, we welcome you to the Fairfield University Kairos Community. You are encouraged to apply to be a Kairos leader and participate in Community activities, such as Fourth Day, which occur, regularly throughout each semester. If you are looking to refresh your faith life and grow in your relationship with others, yourself and God, we have something for you!

Senior Week Committee Chairs, Department of Student Programs & Leadership Development

Senior Week Committee Chairs oversee the planing, design, and execution of seven (7) different events that take place during Senior Week both on and off campus. The week offers the graduating class opportunities to strengthen friendships, reflect on their years together at Fairfield, and to celebrate their accomplishments as they prepare for the future.

Service Learning Associate (SLA), Office of Service Learning

The Service Learning Associates (SLA) program engages 8 to 10 undergraduates each semester as student leaders to their peers in service-learning courses. Each Associate works intensively with one professor to support a service-learning course which aligns with the Associate's academic background and interests. The Associates meet regularly with both faculty and fellow Associates throughout the semester and attend professional development trainings facilitated by the Office of Service Learning.

Tour Ambassadors, Office of Undergraduate Admission

Want to give an inside look at Fairfield University and show your Stag Spirit? In the Office of Undergraduate Admission we are always looking for Tour Ambassadors to share their personal experiences and love for Fairfield with prospective students and their families. As a Tour Ambassador you would help the office conduct weekly tours and assist during important Open House Visits and other Admission events. As part of your tour, you will cover the various aspects of student life (academic, social, recreational, spiritual), as well as the many opportunities that Fairfield University has to offer.
