Graduate Student Assembly Leadership Council
Graduate Student Assembly Mission
An advisory board of graduate students from each program, working to assist and advocate for the graduate student experience and the Jesuit character of our programs. The graduate student assembly acts as the liaison between the graduate student body and the University administration.
Graduate Student Assembly Peer Mentoring Program
It's simple. Fairfield's community of graduate students is what sets us apart. We understand that connecting with your peers as a new student (or really at any time within your graduate career) is a priority. Contact any one of the GSA Leadership Council members to be matched with a peer mentor in your program. If you have any questions about the peer mentor program please contact the Office of Graduate Student Life at (203) 254-4000 ext. 2747 or at Gradstudentlife@fairfield.edu.
Meet the Graduate Student Assembly Leadership Council
The GSA Leadership Council is made up of students who were nominated by their school Deans to serve as the governing board of the Graduate Student Assembly. Any graduate student who wishes to attend an open GSA meeting may do so! Just check our events calendar for more information.

Graduate Program: American Studies, M.S.
Graduation year: 2013
Reason you chose Fairfield University: As a working teacher in a local middle school, the American Studies program fits my schedule and allows me to bring what I am learning directly into my classroom. I have already begun to incorporate pieces of each of my classes at Fairfield into the classes that I teach during the regular school year.
Favorite thing about your program/Fairfield: I love the opportunity to meet new people and to take a wide range of classes. The best part about the program is understanding how literature, history, art, and music all fit together to provide a uniquely "American" experience.

Reason you chose Fairfield University: As an employee for more than nine years, I've seen the powerful effect a Fairfield education can have on students, even those of us who've been brought out of the classroom for a while. The schedule is flexible and convenient for me and the program offers a host of interesting courses.
Favorite thing about your program/Fairfield: American Studies students are a diverse bunch and that leads to some very interesting and spirited discussions. Small class sizes encourage you to join in debates and really get to know your fellow students.

Full name: Adam Whittingham
Graduate School and Program: MBA in Marketing & Finance - Dolan School of Business
Graduation Year: 2012
Reason you chose Fairfield: Attended Loyola University New Orleans in Fall of 2005 when Hurricane Katrina struck. Fairfield University was kind enough to let me into their program and provided me with excellent support and guidance necessary to get through the difficult times. Fairfield University has an outstanding reputation as a school with deep community ties and is actively involved in helping students find employment after graduation.
Favorite thing about your program/Fairfield: My favorite thing about the Dolan School of Business is that the students come from many different cultural backgrounds. These intelligent students are able to speak from experience in those backgrounds to provide interesting perspectives on various aspects of business life in different countries; this in-turn generates new ideas and arguments pertaining to current structures and operations not only in the United States, but in the international business world.
Life philosophy: "Be fit for more than the thing you are now doing. Let everyone know that you have a reserve in yourself; that you have more power than you are now using. If you are not too large for the place you occupy, you are too small for it" - James Garfield
