The Asian Art Collection at Fairfield University
The munificence of Fairfield's alumni and friends has greatly benefited the University's Asian Art Collection in recent years. Notable in this regard are the generous gifts of the Farrell Estate, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Fass, Mrs. Erna Manderman, and the artist Wang Ming. Thanks to these and other supporters, the University has developed a small collection of works from China, Thailand, India and Persia. These pieces not only provide critical windows onto distant cultures, they also foster knowledge, understanding, appreciation, tolerance and respect; all critical facets of Fairfield's committment to Global Citizenry.
Fairfield University is proud to be the recipient of an ASIANetwork consultancy grant funded by the Henry Luce Foundation. The ASIANetwork's mission is "strengthen the role of Asian Studies within the framework of liberal arts education to help prepare a new generation of undergraduates for a world in which Asian societies are playing more and more prominent roles." This mission will be furthered at Fairfield by facilitating the University's integration of Asian Art more fully into the undergraduate curriculum.
