About the Media Department
The Media Department at the DiMenna-Nyselius Library manages non-print library materials. Not to be confused with the Fairfield University Media Center, in Xavier Hall, the Media Department loans and provides access to a wide range of media materials, from audiocassettes to DVDs. Students interested in borrowing videos and other media items should inquire at the library Media desk. Students interested in borrowing media equipment should instead inquire at the Media Center's equipment circulation department, or AMES, at (203) 254-4000 ext. 2593.

Collection
The DiMenna-Nyselius Library houses a growing collection of media materials, including video tapes, DVDs, music CDs, multimedia CD-ROMs, audiocassette tapes, laserdiscs and more. DVDs, VHS tapes and music CDs are located in a browsing-friendly location on the Library's Lower Level. DVDs and VHS tapes are shelved to your left as you enter the Media Department, and are interfiled by LC Call Number. Music CDs are shelved against the wall to your right. You may choose to look up an item in the online Library Catalog (a Guide to Locating Media is available) or simply browse the shelves. At one time, authorized borrowers (see the Media Borrowing Privileges and Loan Periods policy) may borrow up to 3 music CDs for 7 days, and up to 2 feature films and 2 documentaries for a 3-day period. Selections should be carried upstairs to the Circulation Desk on the Main Level to be checked out in the same way that books are checked out. Media materials that are reserved for a course can be obtained at the Reserve desk on the Main Level.
