American Graduate Fellowships
This scholarship competition is sponsored by the Council of Independent Colleges. Its purpose is to promote the doctoral study in humanities (history, philosophy, literature and languages, fine arts) by graduates of small and mid-sized private liberal arts colleges at a selection of prestigious U.S., British and Irish universities.

David L. Boren Graduate Fellowships
This scholarship competition is sponsored by the Academy for Educational Development (AED)'s National Security Education Program (NSEP). Its purpose is to promote the study of under-represented languages and areas critical to U.S. national security; study of Western Europe, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand are excluded.

Fulbright Grant
This program funds more than 1,100 American graduate student studies and research in over 140 foreign countries per year.

Gates Cambridge Scholarship
This scholarship program is open to students worldwide with the exception of those from the United Kingdom. The program funds study for American students granted the status of affiliated students (those students attending Cambridge University through an American school) or for postgraduate study at the University of Cambridge.

George J. Mitchell Scholarship
This program awards 12 graduate degree study scholarships for the duration of one year at one of Ireland's higher education institutions.

German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Scholarships
The DAAD New York office, founded in 1971, supports academic exchanges between the U.S., Canada, and Germany and offers a broad range of scholarships, grants and fellowships in Germany for U.S. and Canadian citizens, from undergraduate students to post-doctoral scholars as well as faculty and higher education professionals. Over 50,000 individuals per year are awarded scholarships by DAAD.

Hertz Foundation Fellowship This program funds graduate studies leading to a Ph.D. in applications of the physical sciences at one of the universities affiliated with the foundation.

Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Graduate Scholarship
This foundation offers the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Graduate Scholarship Program, available to students or recent college graduates beginning their first graduate or professional degree. Two students per year are nominated by the college conferring their undergraduate degree for this scholarship.

Jacob K. Javits Fellowship
This fellowship awards funding to students entering graduate school to study in selected fields of the arts, humanities and social sciences with the anticipation of earning either a masters degree (if it is the highest degree for the field of study) or a Ph.D.

James Madison Scholarship
This scholarship funds the studies of future or current secondary school teachers undertaking the study of the Constitution while pursuing a relevant master's degree.

Marshall Scholarship
This program funds (primarily) two years of graduate study at a British university for at least 40 American students.

National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship
This fellowship, awarded to approximately 1,000 prospective graduate students (or those graduate students at the beginning of their graduate school career) of U.S. citizenship studying sciences, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Rhodes Scholarship
This program, the oldest international fellowship, awards 32 scholarships to students from the U.S. and around the world to study any available field for two years at Oxford University in England.

Robert Bosch Foundation Fellowship
The program "provides young American professionals (23-34 years of age) with executive level internships in the federalgovernment and private sectors in Germany."

Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholarship
This program funds study abroad for both undergraduate and graduate students of those countries in which there are Rotary clubs.

Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Fellowship and Graduate Foreign Affairs Fellowship
This program awards prizes that cover tuition, room, board, and mandatory fees during the junior and senior years of college and during the first year of graduate study with reimbursement for books and one round-trip travel costs for students committing to the pursuit of a graduate degree in international studies at graduate school affiliated with the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation (WWNFF). Only U.S. citizens are eligible for this fellowship.
