Using the Library: Finding Articles with Databases

Fairfield University subscribes to hundreds of databases just for you! These databases contain articles on all topics. Some databases are general and offer overviews of all subjects, such as Academic OneFile. These databases can be good places to start when you are unfamiliar with a topic.

We searched Academic OneFile for articles about global warming and climate change in class. Need a refresher? Watch this short how-to video on basic database searching. video icon

Other databases are subject specific, that is, they cover only one subject in depth. An example of this type of database would be Biosis Previews, which is a Biology database.

CQ Researcher is an example of a unique library database that covers many topics. It contains exhaustive objective reports on national and global social issues put together by teams of journalists at Congressional Quarterly.
