About the Department
The department of Digital Services & Technology Planning plays a leading role in the transparent integration of digital library initiatives with traditional library services and in Library-wide technology planning efforts. Department members have an interest in emerging technologies - both within libraries and other industries - and work collaboratively to evaluate and incorporate best practices and policies into the overarching mission of Fairfield University and ubiquitously throughout the DiMenna-Nyselius Library.
Digital Services & Technology Planning team members manage all aspects of library information technology, including:
- Providing support and development for the Library's SirsiDynix Unicorn system,
- Managing specialized architecture and design for the Library's Web site and interfaces to online databases,
- Managing support for PC workstations within the DiMenna-Nyselius Library,
- Managing the support of Library servers, and reviewing proprietary hardware and software within the Library proper as required, requested or necessitated by industry standards, and
- Offering state of the art digital library services to persons within the Library, on the campus of Fairfield University, and in the community both as a department and through collegially engaging in a true collaboration with persons or departments within the Information Services Division.
