Currency

Enter the Temporal Continuum . . .

When evaluating an information resource, keep its currency in mind:

• Take note of when it was published.
• Keep in mind philosopher George Santayana's famous adage, "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."
• If the information is stored on a website, examine whether or not an archive of older materials is available. If so, notice how far back it goes. Be aware of the time span available to you.
• Depending on your requirements, either historical or current, up-to-the-minute information may be more appropriate. Often, you'll need both.
