Stephen Simons exhibits still lifes at Fairfield University's Lukacs Gallery
The still lifes of artist Stephen R. Simons will be on display from Tuesday, Feb. 20, through Thursday, March 15, in Fairfield University's Lukacs Gallery, Loyola Hall, Room 17. The exhibit opens with a reception at 5:30 p.m.; a lecture follows at 6 p.m.
Simons works in encaustic, oil and etching. With these traditional artists' materials he creates still life arrangements, strong in composition, rich in tactile surface quality and inventive in their color arrangements. The artist earned an MFA in printmaking and a BFA in painting from Colorado State University where he currently teaches.
Gallery hours are Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 12:30 to 3 p.m.; Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:30 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. For additional information call Frances Hynes, Lukacs Gallery Director at (203) 254-4000, ext. 3216 #1.
