Fairfield University's Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts presents a once-in-a-lifetime chance to witness two of Russia's greatest opera singers Anna Netrebko and Dmitri Hvorostovsky performing in their homeland in a High Definition broadcast of Live from Red Square at3 p.m. (encore) on Sunday, November 3, 2013. Tickets are $25, $20 seniors, and $10 children/students.
Appearing this summer for the first time together in Moscow's Red Square, Anna Netrebko, one of the world's most highly regarded opera singers, and Dmitri Hvorostovsky, the internationally acclaimed baritone, performed for one night only in front of an audience of 7,500 people in Russia's famous landmark. Live from Red Square, originally recorded on June 19, 2013, includes popular arias and duets from some of the world's best-loved operas, including Giacomo Puccini's Tosca, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin, and Giuseppe Verdi's Il Trovatore. The two Russian singers were accompanied by conductor Constantine Orbelian, Russia's State Academic Symphony Orchestra and a large chorus. The concert's exciting program also includes excerpts from Verdi's La Forza del Destino, I Vespri Siciliani and Don Carlo, Puccini's Nabucco and Rigoletto, Umberto Giordano's Andrea Chenier, and Francesco Cilea's Adriana Lecouvreur. Director Frank Hof faithfully captured every detail of the event with its stunning backdrop of Red Square, using 18 high definition cameras and 5.1 cinema surround sound.
