R. Strauss's Capriccio
The Met: Live in HD, winner of Emmy and Peabody awards, is quickly selling out the two remaining April operas: Strauss' "Capriccio" with Renée Fleming on April 23rd and Verdi's "Il Trovatore" on April 30 at the Quick Center for the Arts. Both operas will be transmitted live at 1 p.m. and both are followed with an encore broadcast on the same day for each at 6 p.m. Tickets for reserved seating are $22, general, $20, seniors and $15, children and students. The Met: Live in HD is an Arts & Minds presentation.

A very few tickets remain for the 1 p.m. transmission of "Capriccio" on April 23rd and the 1 p.m. transmission of "Il Trovatore" is completely sold out. There are tickets available for the 6 p.m. broadcast of "Capriccio" and almost no tickets available for the 6 p.m. broadcast of "Il Trovatore."

Co-starring with Fleming, who dazzled Opening Night audiences of the 2008-09 season when she sang the final scene of Strauss' wise and worldly meditation on art and life, are Joseph Kaiser and Sarah Connolly with Andrew Davis conducting. The cast also includes Russell Braun, Morten Frank Larsen and Peter Rose. Approximate running time: 2 hours, 45 minutes.

David McVicar's stirring production of Verdi's intense drama premiered in the 2008-09 season. This revival stars four extraordinary singers - Sondra Radvanovsky, Dolora Zajick, Marcelo Álvarez and Dmitri Hvorostovsky - in what might be the composer's most melodically rich score. Marco Armiliato conducts. Approximate running time: 3 hours, 15 minutes.
