FUSA announces spring concert: Multi-artist performance to feature Sean Kingston, Eve 6, and Kat DeLuna
The Fairfield University Student Association (FUSA) has announced performances by three artists for this year's spring concert on Saturday, Feb. 20. Headlining the show will be pop/R&B/hip-hop artist Sean Kingston, with an opening act by Eve 6 and a special appearance by guest artist, Kat DeLuna. The concert takes place in Alumni Hall on the university campus, with doors opening at 7 p.m. for the 8 p.m. show. Tickets are $40 and will be available on Ticketmaster beginning Feb. 10.
Sean Kingston is known for hits like "Fire Burnin'," "Beautiful Girls," and "Face Drop," which have all reached the Top 10. His Jamaican-American heritage, combined with dancehall and reggae, infuse his hip-hop, along with lyrics drawn from a young life filled with struggles and hardship. His early hard work and hustling caught the attention of producer Jonathan "J.R." Rotem (Britney Spears, 50 Cent, Rihanna) who signed the young rapper to his Beluga Heights record label.
Signed on to open the show is Eve 6, an alternative-pop-rock band from Southern California with hits such as "Inside Out," "Leech," and the slow anthem, "Here's to the Night." Disbanded in 2004, the band, made up of guitar, bass and drums, reunited with two of the three original members in October 2007 and is known for its lyrics of vivid imagery and inventive wordplay.
A surprise guest artist, just recently announced, is Kat DeLuna, an up and coming R&B/pop singer whose first album, 9 Lives, gained attention in the United States and Europe, reaching number one in the album charts in France. Born in New York of Dominican heritage, DeLuna released her single "Unstoppable," which featured Lil' Wayne and has announced that she is recording new tracks for a 2-disc English-Spanish album.
The concert is a departure from FUSA's usual format of bringing in one artist and was designed to provide a fun evening that would expose concertgoers to different genres of music.
