University College at Fairfield University hosts Open House August 28

As fall draws near, University College (UC) at Fairfield University announces an Open House to showcase its Fall 2007 course offerings - including the new Online Degree Completion Program - Tuesday, August 28 from 5-7 p.m. at the Kelley Center on campus.

Each year UC finds new ways of improving part-time bachelor degree completion programs and certificate programs as well as the many personal and professional enrichment courses offered. With the introduction of the new Online Degree Completion Program, students may take advantage of the convenience of taking courses that fit into individual schedules. Online classes also offer personal interaction with professors, including the clarification of a one-on-one discussion with one's professor during "office hours" provided by pre-arranged instant messaging, as well as collegial stimulation through a computer bulletin board and chat rooms.

The Open House provides a relaxed atmosphere in which UC's academic advisors showcase the fall course offerings by providing information to small groups of adult learners about available bachelor degree completion programs such as accounting, communication, marketing, professional studies and a wide range of other majors. Certificate program information will be provided in the areas of real estate, interior design, financial planning and human resource management. For lifelong learners seeking enrichment, there are courses in art history, politics, literature, religious studies and philosophy, to name but a few.

Attendees can receive advising to help map out a plan of study all the way to graduation by bringing their transcripts. Course registration will be available on site during the event. Fairfield University's fall semester begins on Tuesday, Sept. 4.

Classes are offered in flexible and convenient day, evening, weekend and online formats that are compatible with the busy lifestyles of working adults.
