Oscar-winning producer/screenwriter set to speak at the Quick Center for the Arts

The Fairfield University Student Association is sponsoring a lecture by Bobby Moresco, the talented co-writer of the Oscar-winning movie, Crash, and the co-producer of the Oscar-winning movie, Million Dollar Baby. The talk will be held at the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts on Monday, Feb. 5 at 8 p.m. The lecture is open to the public and tickets are $25; student tickets $5.

Crash, Mr. Moresco's first feature film project as a full producer and co-writer, won the 2006 Oscar for Best Picture, and also received an Oscar for Best Writing in a Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen. The movie received critical acclaim and generated conversation among moviegoers for taking a provocative look at the social and racial prejudices in modern-day Los Angeles.

Mr. Moresco also co-produced the 2005 Oscar-winning film Million Dollar Baby, which stars Morgan Freeman, Hilary Swank, and Clint Eastwood.

Before becoming one of Hollywood's most respected and powerful writer/producers, Mr. Moresco acted in the cult classic film Turk 182 (1985), and appeared in episodes of television shows such as "Law and Order" and "Miami Vice" in the late 80s and early 90s.

Mr. Moresco has also co-created and produced widely acclaimed television series including "Falcone," "EZ Streets" and "Millennium," which won the 1997 People's Choice Award for Best New Drama of the Year. He is currently the executive producer of a new NBC television series called "The Black Donnellys," which premieres March 5, 2007.

Since founding his own Los Angeles-based theatre company, The Actor's Gym, in 1978, Mr. Moresco has written, directed, or produced more than 35 theatrical productions. This includes directing Colin Quinn, formerly of "Saturday Night Live," on Broadway in the play "An Irish Wake."
