Dr. David Gudelunas

David Gudelunas is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Communication. He is also the Co-Director of Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies. He received his M.A. and Ph.D. from the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania and his B.A. is from the University of San Francisco. Gudelunas researches and teaches in the areas of critical and cultural studies, gender, sexuality and communication, media history, and communication industries. He is the author of "Confidential to America: Newspaper Advice Columns and Sexual Education" from Transaction Publishers (2008) and is widely published in the areas of popular communication as well as the intersections of sexuality and communication.
Gudelunas is a member of the International Communication Association, the Popular Culture Association, and the National Communication Association. He is on the editorial boards of QED, Sexuality and Culture and Critical Studies in Media Communication. He also serves on the Academic Advisory Board of the Online Policy Group. Gudelunas has appeared in local and national media including MSNBC, The Christian Science Monitor, News 8 Connecticut, the Connecticut Post and the LA Daily News.
Originally from Palm Springs, CA, Gudelunas lives in Manhattan where he likes to read, write, run around Chelsea with his dog Davey, and generally cause trouble.
