Dr. Evangelos Hadjimichael

E. Hadjimichael has been the originator and founding Dean of the School of Engineering, Fairfield University, since 1995. As Dean of Engineering, Hadjimichael has introduced numerous innovations in pedagogy and in the laboratory and information technology infrastructure of the School of Engineering, including an Assessment and Continuous Quality Improvement Process (AQUIP) which was validated by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).

Hadjimichael  joined the Fairfield University Faculty in 1967 as Assistant Professor, following his Ph.D. studies in theoretical nuclear physics at the University of California, Berkeley, and a two-year postdoctoral research position at Yale University. He was promoted to Associate in 1970, was tenured in 1972 and reached the rank of Full professor in 1974. He was named the Elizabeth DeCamp McInerney professor in 1987. He devoted his career till 1995 to teaching, research, and departmental administration. He chaired the Physics Department from 1985 to 1995. He has been serving as the Dean of the School of Engineering at Fairfield University since 1995.

His research was supported by research grants from the National Science Foundation, continuously from 1972 to 1996. He has held year-long research positions at Yale Unviersity, MIT, Stony Brook University, and abroad, at the Saclay Nuclear Research Center and the Univesity of Paris IV in France, and at Sussex University in England.

 He has published over 50 research papers and made numerous presentations in conferences and Universities in this country and abroad.

He is currently a member of the Plannning Commission for Higher Education, State of Connecticut
