Super Bowl XLVIII was "a pretty fair year for the advertisers." So said John E. Neal, assistant visiting professor of marketing at Fairfield University's Charles F. Dolan School of Business and former executive vice president and general manager of ad agency Campbell Mithun. Neal teaches courses in media strategy, public relations, consumer behavior and marketing and is a recipient of the Dolan School's "Excellence in Teaching Award." ...

Greenwich media firm launches live-action film unit

John Neal, assistant visiting professor of marketing at Fairfield University, came to the sphere of academia after years in New York's advertising world. He, too, feels that the area benefits from both a crossover of New York talent and a plethora of potential corporate clients based in Fairfield County. "Because of ... the fact that the Internet has taken over, it's a key component that's allowing companies not to have to be New York-based," Neal said. "There's an enormous amount of creative and marketing talent in Connecticut."

Marketing guru says money, Wall Street, undermine business

John Neal, who teaches marketing at the Charles F. Dolan School of Business, calls Trout the "Vince Lombardi of brand managers," whom he has known for 20 years. Neal hopes Trout's talk will leave audience members with a lesson in the basics of building a brand. He said businesses need to answer the question, "What's in it for the consumer?" and then deliver.

Dolan School of Business professor wins Teaching Excellence Award

The radio station interviewed faculty member John E. Neal about teaching at Fairfield after a career in advertising. Before Neal taught at Fairfield University, he worked on Madison Avenue, crafting pitches for Nissan, Nabisco, Minolta Cameras, and Traveler's Insurance. Now a Dolan School of Business faculty member, the Fairfield, Connecticut resident recently received the school's annual Excellence in Teaching Award.
