Current Research Interests

Professor Braun's research focuses on the metabolism and growth of Candida albicans. Her current work involves the effects of tea polyphenols (EGCG, EGC and ECG) on the formation and disruption of biofilms created by this organism. Recent studies investigated the subcellular site of catechin action on C. albicans. Future work will examine the possible synergistic action of the polyphenols with other antifungal agents.

Dr. Braun has extensively published Microbiological Reviews on current and emerging organisms as they relate to respiratory health. These articles are supporting continuing education for respiratory physicians and other respiratory health care providers.
