Deborah L. Edelman, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor and Director of Special Education in the Graduate School of Education and Allied Professions. She earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Univeristy of Hartford, CT., graduate degrees in Special Education, Counseling, and Supervision of Special Education at Western Maryland College, and Ph.D. in Human Development at the Univeristy of Maryland.
Dr. Edelman's teaching in public school settings focused on Specific Learning Disabilties and Emotional / Behavioral Disorders. She piloted the first Instructional Support Team Program in Pennsylvania where, as TEAM leader she served as a liason between familites, teachers, school adminstrators and counselors as they assessed students "at risk" for failure and developed academic and behavioral intervention support programs.
Dr. Edelman co-authored and supervised the Dual Certification Program in Special Education / General Education at York College of Pennsylvania prior to joining Fairfield University as an Associate Professor.
Dr. Edelman's work on motivation and academic / behavioral interventions for students with ADHD has been published and presented nationally and internationally.
