The Ignatian Residential College at Fairfield University
Funded in 2001 by a major grant from the Lilly Endowment, Ignatian Residential College is a residential community of 200 sophomore students who are engaged in actions aimed at asking them to consider their vocation as educated, involved men and women for others.
Overall, the College creates a climate which invites students to engage in explicit and ordered reflection on their vocations. It is a program that is intentional, planned, executed and evaluated, attending to the whole person as a way to provide an education that integrates academic material with values and real world experience.
The College integrates the theological perspectives that ground contemporary Catholic and Jesuit sensibilities: academic integration, opportunities for prayer and communal worship, attendance at lectures and cultural events, opportunities for partnership activities with local parishes for religious services and social justice projects.
