Dr. Winston Tellis
Camille and Stephen Schramm Professor of Information Systems and Operations Management
Dr. Winston Tellis has a varied technical and administrative background, as well as a distinctive academic career. He served for more than 25 years as the director of administrative computing at Fairfield University and, prior to that, oversaw the computerization of the campus, including networking. He earned a doctoral degree in 1997 and embarked on a second career as a professor. He was asked to serve as acting dean of the Charles F. Dolan School of Business from 2000 to 2001, making several important structural changes.
He publishes regularly in areas of networking, particularly in developing countries, as well as on self-sustaining businesses in those countries. His experience in Haiti, Nicaragua, and South Africa is the subject of numerous scholarly articles and cases. He does considerable work in microfinance and is co-founder of the Center for Microfinance Advice and Consulting at the Dolan School of Business. He serves on the Boards of nonprofit organizations such as Fonkoze, the largest Haitian microfinance institution, and Hospice St. Joseph in Haiti, and on the distribution committee of the Greater Bridgeport Area Foundation Distribution Committee. He also serves on the Scholarship committee of the National Security Education Program.
