Student Health Insurance Requirement

Fairfield University has always required that its full-time undergraduate students maintain or purchase a health insurance policy. This requirement was established to ensure the health and well-being of students, which is integral to the quality of their college experience.

Under Fairfield's hard waiver program, the University will enroll each student in its sponsored health insurance policy for the upcoming academic year. A charge for this policy will appear on your tuition bill; however, if you have access to health insurance through other means (e.g., your parent's coverage), then you can waive the University-sponsored coverage and receive a full credit on your bill.

Here is how the hard waiver process will work:

  • Beginning with the fall 2008 tuition bill, available in early July, all full-time undergraduate students will be billed $856 for the University-sponsored Student Health Insurance Plan.

  • You are encouraged to waive the plan by June 30, 2008 in order for the credit to appear on the July tuition bill. If you waive after June 30, the credit will appear on your student account. The final deadline to waive is August 1.
  • Incoming freshmen can begin the waiver process on or after July 1.

  • To waive the Student Health Insurance Plan, please have your insurance card handy, and log in to StagWeb at http://stagweb.fairfield.edu and:

    1. Click on the "Academics" tab

    2. Scroll to the "Student Records" channel

    3. Click on the "Insurance Waiver" link

    4. Complete and submit the form

  • If a student wishes to enroll in this plan, no further action is needed. For more information about the policy, managed by Gallagher Koster Insurance Agency, please visit their web site at: https://www.gallagherkoster.com.
  • The deadline for waiving insurance is August 15.
