Honors Program :: Dr. John E. Thiel

 

Dr. John E. Thiel has served as Director of the University Honors Program since 1997. He is Professor of Religious Studies and has taught at Fairfield for thirty-one years. He is the author of 5 books, including Senses of Tradition: Continuity and Development in Catholic Faith (Oxford University Press, 2000) and God, Evil, and Innocent Suffering: A Theological Reflection (Crossroad, 2002). His articles have appeared in Theological Studies, The Heythrop Journal, New Theology Review, Horizons, Philosophy and Theology, and The Month. Twice a recipient of fellowships from the National Endowment for the Humanities, Dr. Thiel is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, the American Academy of Religion, the Catholic Theological Society of America, and the American Theological Society.
