Emily McAdam

Emily McAdamAn outgoing and outspoken college student, Emily McAdam knows the key to running a successful party - getting students as involved as possible. And, that's exactly what she has attempted to do at Fairfield, as vice-chair of the Connecticut Union of College Republicans.

A history major from Thomaston, Conn., Emily has taken an active interest not only in distributing information regarding her party's agenda, but also in encouraging young voters to exercise their 26th amendment rights.

"The history makes students more aware of what people before us went through so we could have rights," says Emily.

As a member and later, president of the Fairfield University College Republicans, Emily has been active throughout her college career in assisting with youth rallies and working with national coordinators in an effort to strengthen the waning youth vote.

Emily took advantage of the opportunity to participate in Fairfield's Ignatian Residential College program. Among the activities she was involved in as part of the sophomore year program was a dinner at the Carnegie Foundation in New York City, where she and other Ignatian Residential College students discussed civil duty with Carnegie Foundation representatives.

As Emily and many other Fairfield students can attest, the University prides itself on provide the ideal environment in which students can develop the leadership skills that will serve them throughout their lives.
