Educational Technology


The Educational Technology program at Fairfield University empowers teachers to teach and students to learn in today's information age. Emphasizing theory, production, and applications of instructional technologies in education, the program is highly regarded and graduates are much in demand in corporate, K-12, higher education, and non-profit settings.

The three areas of study in the Educational Technology program are:

Educational Technology - This program of study includes a Master of Arts degree in Educational Technology through a generalized program.

Educational Technology with specialization in School Library Media (initial certification) - This program of study includes a Master of Arts degree in Educational Technology with specialization in School Library Media and a Connecticut educator certificate in school library media.

Educational Technology with specialization in School Library Media (cross-endorsement) - This program of study includes a Master of Arts degree in Educational Technology with specialization in School Library Media. Cross-endorsement certification is offered to teachers who already have a Connecticut educator certificate.

Student Advantages and Opportunities

  • Internships in School Media, TV Production, or Multimedia Production
  • Hands-on experience in computer labs with the most up-to-date software and hardware
  • The Resource Center for Advanced Digital Exploration (RCADE) and access to:
    • Digital imaging lab
      • Advanced digital editing suite

      • Projection screening rooms
  • Access to the DiMenna-Nyselius Library facility and its outstanding collection, including online databases
  • The choice of full or part-time schedules and the option of weekday, evening or weekend classes
  • A staff of professional educators that are expertly versed in the best methods and practices for 21st Century classrooms and teachers

The Educational Technology program is offered through Fairfield's Graduate School of Education and Allied Professionals to teach, counsel, evaluate, and serve the wider community in ways that reflect Jesuit values.
